    New Software for the Blogula!

I’m totally just using this post as an excuse to try the new blogging software that Denis downloaded for me. It’s called MarsEdit, and since I have semi-permanently commandeered Denis’ extra MacBook Pro, it is for Macs.

We did some cleaning around the house today (including a pretty massive trip to Goodwill), and I had a hard time letting go of a few items even though I know I don’t have a use for them in the foreseeable future. This one was the hardest, so I had to capture it on photo to make dumping it in the trash a little easier.

    Wait – a cardboard Wii?

That’s right! With a Wii Mii couple inside!

I bought this in college one year as a Valentine’s Day gift to myself. I think it was during my grad year and Denis was definitely in the picture, but who says a girl can’t buy herself chocolates?

These chocolates are now 3 years old. Sketchy. But still cute and surprisingly fragrant. Regardless, throwing them out still felt a little bit like killing our love fern (How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days, anyone?).

    Love killer.

Okay, logging off for the night. We’ll see how MarsEdit looks on WordPress once it posts! *Crosses toes*

    The Plate is Not Enough

My dinner couldn’t fit on one plate today, and I am not ashamed. More on that in a bit.

Remember when I said I was bored earlier after coming back from breakfast and didn’t know what to do next? Well, Denis and I embarked shortly after to do the obvious thing: go out to eat lunch!

We went to the Purple Onion in Los Gatos. I was craving a giant latte and didn’t really feel the need for “real” food, since I had just eaten a protein filled breakfast.

I ordered a soy latte, a low fat pear muffin and an apple.

I can’t remember the last time I ate a muffin. YUM. Note to self: eat more muffins. Note to jeans: beware of the muffin top!

Denis got the tuna salad panini. Check out the flowers on the salad – so pretty!

Afterwards, we caught the last 10 minutes of the Los Gatos Farmer’s Market. I managed to spend around $1/minute. Horrifying or great success? I can’t decide. Was it worth it? You betcha!

Figs! I have NEVER purchased figs before. As soon as I laid eyes on these babies, I knew they had to be mine.

I also picked up some organic raspberries… obviously.

I have so many plans in store for these figs (inspired by foodgawker).

    Awesome figgy sandwich

Fig, goat cheese, prosciutto, basil and balsamic reduction on focaccia. Good riddance.

    Sausage and fig pizza

    Figs with yogurt and honey

I am drooling right now just thinking about all the options.

For my first fig attempt, I went with something simple so that 1) I could really figure out what figs taste like in their natural element, and 2) I wouldn’t fail epically. As a dinner side dish, I roasted figs that I cut in half and drizzled with a mixture of balsamic vinegar, honey and kosher s&p.

Denis bbq’ed a veggie burger for me to eat as my main course. He also grilled a bunch of other veggies (thus the need for two plates!).

I ate the figs with feta, since I didn’t have any goat cheese on hand. Worked for me :).

I can’t wait to experiment more!

    Thumb Twiddling

I went to an 8am spin class at the nearby 24 hour this morning. There was a substitute instructor today, which was great for me. The woman that normally runs the class is good, but her idea of motivating workout music is so far away from any songs or artists that I would categorize in the same bucket. Since today’s instructor was around my age, the music was fantastical – pretty much everything that’s on my iPod. Score!

It’s also nice to vary up instructors to infuse some variation in the workout too. Usually we do a lot of steady hill climbs, but this lady had us constantly augmenting the gear by 1/4 turns and getting in an out of the saddle (almost too frequently – my bum was getting sore!). Either way, it was a good workout and I’m glad that there are people willing to pry themselves out of bed on Sunday morning to get my blood pumping!

After the class, I went to Blue Rock Shoot in downtown Saratoga with my parents. There isn’t a ton of breakfast selection there – you can pretty much either get a bagel sandwich… or a bagel sandwich – but there is nice outdoor seating. Lo and behold, I ordered a breakfast sandwich.

Ham and egg on a WW bagel. There may have also been some eXtreme ketchup-ing.

I’m back at home, and frankly, I have no idea what to do with myself. Any ideas?

P.S. My two favorite PostSecret’s from this week’s batch:
